Matchday 17 of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season gets underway this Friday, with league-leaders Bayern Munich hosting struggling Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena.

Wolfsburg have dropped into the bottom half of the table after suffering four straight losses. They now find themselves only a handful of points above the relegation zone.

At the opposite end of the standings, Bayern Munich hold a sizeable lead over second-place Borussia Dortmund and are 20 points better off than Wolfsburg.

Bayern sealed an emphatic 5-0 victory over Stuttgart in midweek. Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace before Serge Gnabry netted a hat-trick.

The Bavarians have now scored a whopping 52 goals in 16 Bundesliga games this season, averaging 3.25 goals per game.

Not only have Bayern won each of their last four league matches, but they have also won eight of their previous nine.

When you look at the bigger picture, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have won 13 of their past 15 Bundesliga encounters.

It is also worth noting that 14 of Bayern’s 16 Bundesliga games this season have produced over 2.5 goals, with ten of those games dishing up over 3.5 goals.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg were beaten 3-2 by FC Koln on Tuesday. Despite taking the lead on two occasions, they ended up coming away with nothing.

The Wolves have lost each of their previous four Bundesliga matches, conceding a whopping 11 goals along the way.

To make matters worse, they have only managed to win two of the last 12 league outings – registering two draws and eight losses in the process.

Unfortunately for Wolfsburg, they are currently enduring their second four-game losing streak of the season.

Head-to-head: Bayern Munich have won each of their last seven Bundesliga games against Wolfsburg, scoring a combined total of 22 goals in the process.

Wolfsburg last beat Bayern back in 2015. Since then, the Bavarians have recorded 13 wins and two draws across all competitions against the Wolves.

Team news: Bayern will be without the injured trio of Leon Goretzka, Josip Stanisic and Corentin Tolisso on Friday.

As for Wolfsburg, they currently have Admir Mehmedi, Lukas Nmecha and Xaver Schlager sidelined through injury.

While Bayern are flying high at the Bundesliga summit (as always!), Wolfsburg are languishing in the bottom half of the table.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Bayern Munich will beat Wolfsburg on Friday night – scoring over 1.5 goals in the process.
