Sunday evening’s clash between PSG and Monaco wraps up this weekend’s action in the French top flight at Parc des Princes with the hosts looking to widen the gap between themselves and the chasing pack in Ligue 1.

PSG have suffered just the single defeat so far in this season’s domestic top flight campaign and this came in the form of a 2-0 defeat away from home at surprise-package, Rennes, who currently occupy 2nd place in the Ligue 1 standings.

However, PSG’s results before and after that slip-up against Rennes have been impressive as the hosts racked up eight league wins on the trot prior, while subsequent results have seen PSG put together an eight-match unbeaten run in Ligue 1 which has lifted them to the summit.

Five wins from these eight games include home wins against Angers, Lille and Nantes while the bigger picture shows that PSG have won 10 of their last 11 matches at the Parc des Princes, scoring 2 goals or more in 10 of these 11 games as well.

Despite posting recent back-to-back wins against Angers and Metz, Monaco still remain in 7th place in the Ligue 1 standings but trail the top five pack by just a single point as they prepare for this tough-looking outing to the nation’s capital on Sunday evening.

Monaco are unbeaten in their last five games overall in the domestic top flight having picked up points in draws with Reims, Lille and Strasbourg along with the aforementioned victories over Angers and Metz.

However, although they occupy 7th place, Monaco’s form has been unconvincing in recent times as the visitors have collected just three wins out of their last eight matches overall, two of which were achieved on home turf at their Stade Louis II, where they’ve lost just twice so far this season.

Results away from home have been more modest though as Monaco have managed to win just three out of their last nine outings on their travels while also failing to score in five of these matches and keeping just two clean sheets themselves.

PSG have lost just one of their last eight home meetings against Monaco and the in-form hosts should once again hold the upper hand in this encounter as well, as the Paris side seek to extend their lead at the top.
