A League-Changing Draw Expected Between Napoli and Atalanta

In arguably the biggest game of the Serie A season for both sides, league leaders Napoli will meet with Atalanta as the Naples side continue to fight for the title with the Bergamo outfit can get right in there too with a win.

With Serie A being arguably the most intense league in Europe this season, these two simply cannot afford to drop any more points as Napoli slipped up in midweek after AC Milan lost last weekend, meaning the Naples outfit are just one point ahead of Stefano Pioli’s men at the top of the table.

After beginning to distance themselves from the pack earlier in the season, it's been a topsy-turvy November for Napoli who have slipped up big time in the past two weeks.

Following a 4-1 win over Legia Warsaw in Europe, the club drew with Hellas Verona before losing to the champions Inter Milan in a thrilling 3-2 defeat.

Napoli were expected to return to winning ways, however, a loss to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League once more brought them back down to earth, before they managed to absolutely demolish Lazio 4-0, in what was a game remembered for the late Diego Maradona.

Dries Mertens turned back the clock that day as the Napoli legend quite fittingly netted two goals to continue on as the club's greatest ever goalscorer. Piotr Zielinski netted early on too that day, before Fabian Ruiz capped off an excellent performance with a long-range effort that curled past ex-Napoli man, Pepe Reina.

Once again, however, Luciano Spalletti side could not capitalise on Milan’s dropped points and lost more consistency as a result, and they are now a mere point ahead at the top and must win more or less to gain a bit of confidence again.

Nevertheless, against one of Europe’s most threatening outfits in Atalanta, the table-toppers boast the best defence in Serie A right now and the second best on the continent across Europe’s top five leagues, with Chelsea letting in only six goals thus far in the league compared to Napoli’s nine.

As for Atalanta, their rough start to the season has been forgotten about as they are now comfortably in fourth and just three points off the champions Inter, and five off Napoli at the top. A win here, and there can be no two ways about it: the Bergamo side are title contenders once more.

With 32 goals scored each in Serie A for either side, Forebet predicts a game that will see over 2.5 goals but also a draw, given Napoli’s recent slip ups.
