High-flying Napoli will aim to extend their lead at the Serie A summit when they visit Mapei Stadium to face Sassuolo on Wednesday.

Luciano Spalletti’s team sit three points clear of second-place AC Milan following a thumping 4-0 victory over Lazio on Sunday.

On the flip side, Sassuolo find themselves twelfth in the table – 17 points behind Napoli – having claimed just one win in their past four outings.

It is worth noting, however, that Sassuolo’s sole victory during that period came against in-form Milan last time out.

Alessio Dionisi’s side claimed a 3-1 win at the San Siro on Sunday, limiting the hosts to only two attempts on target.

As a result, Sassuolo have now scored at least one goal in each of their previous ten matches in Italy’s top tier.

At the opposite end of the pitch, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last eight Serie A encounters.

Given that both teams have scored in each of Sassuolo’s past eight Serie A games, we are likely to see action in front of both goals on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Napoli have lost just one of their 14 league matches this term – picking up 11 wins and two draws along the way.

They have conceded only seven goals in the process, keeping nine clean sheets. That gives them a shutout rate of 64%.

When you look at the bigger picture, Spalletti’s men have lost just one of their previous 20 Serie A encounters.

Napoli sealed an emphatic 4-0 victory over Lazio last time out, with Dries Mertens bagging a brace. There were also goals for Piotr Zielinski and Fabian Ruiz.

Head-to-head: Napoli have only managed to win one of their previous six away games against Sassuolo in Italy’s top flight.

Still, it is worth pointing out that Napoli have scored at least one goal in each of their last eight Serie A meetings with Sassuolo away from home.

Team news: Napoli currently have Victor Osimhem, Adam Ounas, Alessandro Zanoli, Andre Zambo Anguissa and Matteo Politano sidelined through injury.

As for Sassuolo, they will be without Filippo Romagna, Pedro Obiang, Filip Djuricic, Jeremie Boga, Edoardo Goldaniga and Nicolas Schiappacasse on Wednesday.

Although Napoli have struggled against Sassuolo in recent times, Spalletti’s men are enjoying a seemingly unstoppable run at the moment.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Napoli will score over 1.5 goals on their way to dispatching Sassuolo on Wednesday.
