Atalanta and Lazio to Play Out a Classic in a Crucial Serie A Clash

Atalanta will welcome Lazio to the Gewiss Stadium in what has rapidly become a crucial Serie A clash for both sides with Lazio slipping out of the top five while the home side sit merely a point ahead of them before the game.

It’s been a wild season in Italy right now, and while the likes of the Premier League and the Bundesliga have started to take shape ahead of the November international break, predicting the end-of-season results in Serie A is near impossible.

That comes because following another defeat, Lazio are in sixth, while Atalanta have climbed into fifth after beating Sampdoria, just as Juventus still sit seventh with the Milan clubs and Napoli the only three putting up a serious title quest.

With this in mind, this game is set to be a very close one but one which sees plenty of goals. In fact, Lazio are coming off the back of two topsy-turvy results as they were thrashed 4-1 by Hellas Verona where Giovanni Simeone scored all four, but they regained a winning streak by beating Fiorentina this Wednesday.

It was a narrow victory for the Rome outfit, as Pedro sealed the deal upon the 52nd minute when he netted his second Serie A goal of the campaign and his first since netting against his former side in the Rome derby.

The past week has all but summed up Maurizio Sarri’s time as Lazio boss as they really can’t seem to find any sort of momentum early on. Following recent results, the club have now only won five of the 10 Serie A games and saw their usual defensive brilliance mowed down with 17 goals going in their own net.

Nevertheless, a win here and they will rocket into fifth and potentially ahead of Roma, who have a very tough fixture against Milan this weekend.

As for Atalanta, they’ve finally started to get into the groove in Italy. The club are now on a three-game unbeaten streak and have drawn with Udinese in that time whilst beating Empoli and Sampdoria.

In fact, since losing to AC Milan a few weeks back, they’ve got themselves right back into top four contention.

On the other hand, with the Milan outfits and Napoli running riot towards the top end of the table, it’s doubtful we’ll see an Atalanta title charge this campaign. Nevertheless, their goalscoring form is slowly coming back and they are expected to score here.

Forebet predicts a draw here with the game seeing over 2.5 goals.
