Seattle Sounders and the Vancouver Whitecaps Set for a Tight Clash in the Latter End of the MLS

Seattle Sounders can take one step closer to securing the Western Conference title this weekend as they welcome Vancouver Whitecaps to the Lumen Field with the Canadian outfit attempting to break back into the playoffs with a win.

The Sounders have, once again, been absolutely fantastic this season and been relentless in their approach to challenging for the MLS Cup for another time.

The club are top of the Western table and with their recent 3-0 thrashing over the Colorado Rapids, not many are doubting them to go all the way right now.

This encounter with the Rapids was seen as one of the biggest games of the MLS 2021 season, as it was first versus second out West.

The Colorado outfit have since moved into third, and the Sounders have managed to open up a six-point gap on them and keep their two-point lead over second-placed Sporting Kansas City.

Such results barely mean they have secured the Western title, but the Seattle Sounders side will be in the playoffs once again and a win here against a decent Whitecaps outfit might just put them as the clear favourites for the MLS Cup.

As for them, the Canadian side are sitting just outside the top six and a win could rocket them as high as fifth in the table, should other results go their way.

Right now, only one point keeps them at bay from the other playoff hopefuls, but with Los Angeles FC and the San Jose Earthquakes right behind them, it’s vital they do not lose here.

A defeat wouldn’t spell the end for their playoff hopes, but it would, however, make it pretty difficult as Real Salt Lake, LA Galaxy, Minnesota United and the Portland Timbers are all above them in the table and boasting decent enough form to keep them there.

What pretty much sums up the Vancouver Whitecaps outfit's form this year is how they have conceded 34 goals and scored 34 of their own so far, leaving them with a goal difference of 0. At the same time, they've drawn more (10) than they have won (9) and lost eight as well.

As for the Sounders, they’ve let in only 22 goals from 27 games thus far and it’s tough to see them losing here.

Because of this, Forebet predicts a draw and a game that will see under 2.5 goals.
