Dominant Man City likely to heap more misery on struggling Arsenal

Arsenal will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday.

The Gunner have lost both of their opening two matches this season, going down 2-0 to Brentford before losing to Chelsea by the same scoreline last weekend.

Man City also started their season with a loss, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend.

They bounced back in style last time out, however, crushing newly-promoted Norwich City 5-0 at Carrow Road.

£100 million-man Jack Grealish was among the scorers last weekend, while Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Riyah Mahrez also got on the scoresheet.

It was a completely dominant display from Pep Guardiola’s men, who enjoyed 67% possession and limited to Canaries to just a single shot.

When you look at the bigger picture, Man City have only lost five of their previous 32 Premier League outings.

It is also worth noting that each of Man City’s last five Premier League matches on home soil have produced over 2.5 goals.

On the flip side, Arsenal notched 22 shots and 65% possession on the opening weekend, yet they were unable to prevent a loss to Brentford.

They were totally outplayed by Chelsea, though, seeing just 35% of the ball while allowing the Blues to chalk up 22 attempts last weekend.

Although the Gunners have only lost two of their last 12 away matches in all competitions, they are likely to struggle on Saturday.

If their opening two league performances are anything to go by, Arsenal are nowhere near Man City’s level.

Head-to-head: Remarkably, Arsenal have only managed to win one of their last 15 meetings with Man City in all competitions.

Guardiola’s side have won ten of their previous 11 matches against the Gunners, scoring over 2.5 goals on seven occasions during that period.

Team news: Man City duo Phil Foden and Liam Delap are both out through injury, while Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for Saturday’s clash.

Arsenal, on the other hand, could be without as many as eight first-team players this weekend. Ben White is out due to Covid, while Thomas Partey is also unavailable.

Given Man City’s dominant record against Arsenal, it is difficult to imagine the Gunners getting anything from Saturday’s game.

Forebet predicts that Man City will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to thrashing Arsenal.
