Poland and Andorra clash set for goals
Poland vs Andorra - 28/03/2021
3425
Poland were held to a highly entertaining 3-3 draw away from home against Hungary in their World Cup qualifier opener in Group I but Poland now return to home soil for their next match against minnows, Andorra, at their Stadion Miejski Legii Warszawa.
Poland already find themselves two points behind the group favourites, England, but also Albania who secured all three points in their opening match with a 1-0 win away at Andorra.
So, this upcoming encounter represents a must-win for the hosts even at this early stage in the proceedings.
The hosts have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 11 matches overall in World Cup qualifiers which was a heavy 4-0 defeat away at Denmark back in 2017 but eight wins within this period suggest a straightforward win for the hosts beckons here.
In addition, goals also look set to feature as each of Poland’s last 11 qualifiers have all resulted in over 2.5 goals, while seven of these 11 have also exceeded the over 3.5 goals mark too.
Poland have won six of their last seven qualifiers at home with five of these six wins also producing at least three goals for the hosts.
Sunday’s visitors, Andorra, kept things tight in their opening World Cup qualifier against Albania but ultimately couldn’t make any inroads against their opponents, losing in a narrow 1-0 defeat but they’ll be bracing themselves ahead of their trip to Warsaw this Sunday.
Andorra have managed to pick up just one win in their last 40 World Cup qualifiers overall which came in the shape of a 1-0 home win against Hungary.
Although, 36 defeats within this period indicate there’s little hope for them away at Poland.
As if to validate this, Andorra have lost each of their last 19 away trips on the trot in World Cup qualifiers while 4 goals or more have been scored in 11 of these 19 matches and they look set to find themselves on the end of another heavy defeat in Warsaw.
In their only previous meeting, Poland registered a convincing 4-0 romp at home over Andorra back in June 2012 and a similar scoreline could unfold here in Warsaw on Sunday evening as the goal-line safely exceeds the over 2.5 mark.
