RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund will be looking to enhance their respective top-four ambitions when they lock horns at Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon.

With four matches remaining, fourth-placed Leipzig lead fifth-placed Dortmund by two points, meaning the two sides could swap places this weekend.

In this preview, Forebet discusses all the key stats, trends and analysis ahead of Saturday’s showdown. Read on to find out what our predictive analytics model forecasts.

Let’s start by looking at the hosts, RB Leipzig, who claimed a 2-1 victory over Heidenheim last weekend, courtesy of Lois Openda’s 85th-minute winner.

The Red Bulls have now avoided defeat in each of their previous seven Bundesliga matches, picking up six wins and one draw in the process.

When you look at the bigger picture, Leipzig have lost just one of their last 11 league encounters, taking 26 points from a possible 33 in that time.

Having won eight of their previous 11 home league games – keeping a clean sheet in each of their last five – Leipzig will be confident of securing another positive result this weekend.

As for Borussia Dortmund, they came agonizingly close to becoming the first team to beat Bayer Leverkusen across all competitions this season.

However, Josip Stanisic equalized for Bayer in the 97th minute last weekend, meaning Sunday’s clash ended in a 1-1 draw after Niclas Fullkrug’s opener.

BVB can take confidence from their recent form, though, as they have lost just two of their previous 16 Bundesliga matches, winning five of their last seven.

It is also worth noting that Dortmund have not tasted defeat on the road since November, picking up six wins and four draws to notch a 10-game unbeaten run on their travels.

Head-to-head: RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund served up a five-goal thriller in the reverse fixture, with the Red Bulls winning 3-2 back in December.

Leipzig have won four of their previous five Bundesliga meetings with BVB, scoring over 2.5 goals in three of those victories.

Team news: Christopher Lenz (knock) and Yussuf Poulsen (muscle) are both absent for Leipzig, while Nuha Jatta (knock) is a doubt for Saturday’s showdown.

On the flip side, Sebastien Haller (ankle), Donyell Malen (knee) and Ramy Bensebaini (knee) are injured for Dortmund, while Emre Can and Ian Maatsen are suspended.

Both sides have enjoyed plenty of success in recent months, but it is difficult to ignore Borussia Dortmund’s supreme away form right now.

Forebet’s algorithm predicts that Leipzig and Dortmund will combine for over 2.5 goals this weekend, with the visitors outscoring the hosts.
