Last weekend, Bayer Leverkusen crushed Bayern Munich 3-0 to move five points clear at the summit of the Bundesliga table, leaving other potential title contenders even further behind.

Despite avoiding defeat in their last seven league games – winning four of their previous five – fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund find themselves 15 points shy of Leverkusen with 13 games remaining.

On Saturday, Dortmund travel to Volkswagen Arena to take on VfL Wolfsburg, who sit 12th – 17 points behind BVB – having failed to win any of their last six encounters.

Wolfsburg suffered a 1-0 defeat to Union Berlin last weekend, meaning they have taken just four points from a possible 18 since their last victory.

After losing to Bayern Munich before the winter break, the Wolves returned to action with four successive draws against Mainz, Heidenheim, FC Koln and Hoffenheim.

Trends also show that Wolfsburg have struggled on home soil of late, as they managed to win just one of their last seven home league games, suffering three defeats along the way.

Having picked up a solitary victory in their previous 10 matches across all competitions, the Wolves will be desperate to arrest the slide this weekend.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg last weekend, with Dutch forward Donyell Malen bagging a brace.

Not only have BVB avoided defeat in each of their last seven Bundesliga games – securing four wins and three draws – but they have also avoided defeat in their previous eight clashes across all competitions.

Dortmund’s recent away stats also make for good reading, as Edin Terzic’s men have only lost one of their last seven road games across all competitions.

Better still, BVB have kept three consecutive clean sheets on their travels, scoring seven goals in the process, so they will back themselves to extend their hot streak on Saturday.

Head-to-head: Borussia Dortmund won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in September, meaning BVB have won 10 of their previous 11 Bundesliga meetings with the Wolves.

It is also worth noting that Dortmund have scored 27 goals in their last 10 league matches against Wolfsburg, averaging 2.7 goals per game.

Team news: Koen Casteels, Lukas Nmecha, Tiago Tomas and Aster Vranckx are all sidelined through injury, while Patrick Wimmer is a doubt for the hosts.

As for Borussia Dortmund, Julien Duranville and Felix Nmecha are absent due to injury, with Salih Ozcan continuing to recover from illness.

When you match Wolfsburg’s six-game winless run against Dortmund’s eight-match unbeaten streak, all the signs point towards a positive result for the visiting side.

Forebet’s AI algorithm predicts that Wolfsburg and Dortmund will combine for over 2.5 goals, with BVB outscoring their hosts on this occasion.
