Arsenal head to Craven Cottage to meet with Fulham on New Year’s Eve this Sunday where the Gunners aim to get back to the top of the Premier League with just a handful of hours left before 2024 arrives at kick off time.
Mikel Arteta’s men suffered a midweek defeat to West Ham United against the odds on Thursday and are now sitting second in the Premier League table, two points behind Liverpool.
It was also the first loss at the Emirates in all competitions this season, having defeated the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion on home soil so far.
The two-point gap should not concern Arsenal fans, however, especially after they racked up a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield just under two weeks ago.
They also meet with the Reds once more in the FA Cup third round in their game following this one.
On the other hand, what will concern fans at the Emirates will be the performance at home to West Ham during the week.
Arsenal had a total of 30 shots in the game but never really looked like scoring.
The absence of a clinical striker continues to haunt them, with Gabriel Jesus firing a blank once again amidst the 75% of ball possession and eight shots on target.
The Brazilian has only three Premier League goals in 14 games this season, and his lack of goals have been one of the reasons why Arsenal have won only one of their past five games and secured just three wins from seven throughout December.
The other victories for Arteta’s side have seen them defeat Luton Town, Brighton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They have also drawn with Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven during this spell and lost to fellow title challengers Aston Villa.
As for Fulham, it's been a fairly lacklustre season for them.
In reality, it doesn't look like they will fight a relegation battle with a gap of six on the bottom three before this game, and given the shocking form of those currently in the relegation zone.
However, they are also behind the top half of the table by eight points and have scored just 26 times from 19 games and let in 34 - this is the worst goals difference record for those outside of the bottom three after Nottingham Forest.
Forebet predicts a win for Arsenal and over 2.5 goals.
