Borussia Dortmund’s season has hit a dip. They won just one of their last six matches in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund failed to win their last three Bundesliga matches and limp into Tuesday’s match versus Mainz well out of the title race.

Mainz are also seeking to ignite their campaign. The 05ers are 17th in the division and one point off the relegation playoff place. Mainz could emerge from the bottom three with a win over Dortmund.

Unfortunately for Mainz, they do not have a strong record against Borussia Dortmund. The 05ers failed to win any of their last six games versus Dortmund, losing four times and drawing twice.

During the 2022-23 season, Dortmund won 2-1 away from home before drawing 2-2 at Signal Iduna Park. Five of the last six matches between these teams finished with both teams scoring. Four of the last five fixtures between the clubs saw over 2.5 goals.

Mainz are struggling in the final third. The team failed to score in their last three league matches. The 05ers took just one point from those three fixtures.

Mainz have played well in their last five away games, drawing all five of those road matches. The 05ers drew 6 of their 15 matches this season.

Borussia Dortmund have played well at Signal Iduna Park this season, posting a record of 5W1D-1L. The Black and Yellow won four of their last six matches in the Bundesliga played at home, losing two times.

Dortmund’s defence continues to be their weak link. They conceded 24 times in 15 matches. Each of their last three games in the Bundesliga finished with both teams scoring.

Coach Marco Rose has several key players on the injury list. Forward Karim Adeyemi is out until January with an ankle injury. Defender Julian Ryerson remains out of action following an MCL injury.

Forward Youssoufa Moukoko is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, midfielders Felix Nmecha and Julien Duranville are both ruled out through injuries.

Mainz coach Jan Siewert defender Anthony Carci is out of action with an abdominal issue. Midfielder Leandro Barreiro has a hip injury and will be out of action. Goalkeeper Robin Zetner could miss the game.

Defender Max Leitsch is ruled out with a thigh injury. Finally, midfielder Andreas Hanche-Olsen will sit out the match due to an ankle injury.

Tuesday’s match will see two out-of-form teams looking to reignite their seasons ahead of the Bundesliga winter break. Can Dortmund stay unbeaten against Mainz?
