Aston Villa will go in search of their 14th consecutive Premier League home victory when Manchester City visit Villa Park on Wednesday.

The two sides are separated by a solitary point in the table, with third-placed Man City leading fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Given that Pep Guardiola’s side have drawn their last three league games, Unai Emery’s men will be confident of extending their hot streak on home soil.

Aston Villa were held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth on Sunday, with Ollie Watkins scoring in the 90th minute to earn a point for his side.

Thanks to victories over AZ Alkmaar, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Legia Warsaw, the Villains head into Wednesday’s clash on a five-game unbeaten run.

When you look at the bigger picture, Emery’s side have lost just one of their previous 12 matches across all competitions, picking up nine wins along the way.

Not only have Villa won each of their last 13 home league games, but they have also lost just one of their previous 18 home games across all competitions.

Manchester City, meanwhile, played out a wild 3-3 draw with Tottenham last time out, conceding in the 90th minute to throw away two points at the Etihad.

Guardiola’s side have now drawn each of their last three Premier League outings, dropping points against Chelsea and Liverpool prior to Sunday’s stalemate.

Still, the reigning champions have avoided defeat in each of their previous six league matches, with victories over Brighton, Manchester United and Bournemouth preceding the recent draws.

It is also worth remembering that Man City boast the best offensive record in the division, having scored 36 goals in 14 games this season (2.6 goals per game).

Head-to-head: Manchester City have won 10 of their last 11 meetings with Aston Villa across all competitions, recording a solitary draw in that time.

In terms of the wider head-to-head picture, the Villains have failed to win any of their previous 15 matches against the Cityzens.

Team news: Aston Villa are still without long-term injury absentees Emiliano Buendia, Tyrone Mings and Bertrand Traore.

Man City’s injury list contains Kevin De Bruyne, Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku, while Jack Grealish and Rodri are suspended.

If recent matches are anything to go by, Wednesday’s clash will be a high-scoring affair with goals at both ends of the pitch.

Forebet predicts that Aston Villa and Manchester City will combine for over 4.5 goals, with the visitors edging out the hosts.
