Saturday’s Merseyside Derby will be the final one at Goodison Park. Everton are set to move into their new dock-side venue next season.

The mid-1980s saw a shift in the derby's atmosphere, with increased competitiveness on the pitch leading to heightened tensions. This period coincided with both clubs experiencing significant success, intensifying the stakes of each encounter.

Today, the Merseyside Derby is far from friendly. Everton’s struggles on and off the pitch, and Liverpool’s success in England and abroad, has made the competitiveness between fans higher.

There is hope for Everton to get points in their final Goodison Park derby. The Toffees are unbeaten in five straight games at home.

Liverpool are unbeaten in seven road matches this season on the road. However, the Reds drew two of their last three Premier League away games.
