Many football fans were shocked when Bayern Munich appointed Vincent Kompany as their manager in the summer.

The former Belgian international defender took Burnley to the Premier League from the Championship but suffered relegation with the club at the first time of asking.

There were many other big-name managers available at the time of Kompany’s appointment, but Bayern Munich were keen to take Kompany despite his relegation with Burnley.

Bayern struggled to find a replacement for Thomas Tuchel following his exit, which was initially announced in February.

That is an average of 4.83 goals per game, which is incredible. In addition to the goals from Harry Kane, the addition of Michael Olise has made a significant difference to the attacking play of Bayern Munich.

The French international has 5 goals and 2 assists to his name in just four starts for Bayern Munich and that makes Olise the second top scorer at the club, behind Kane.

The true test of Kompany’s Bayern Munich will come when the face defending Bundesliga Champions, Bayer Leverkusen, on the weekend.

Bayer Leverkusen took 4 points off Bayern Munich last season, including a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena. Bayer Leverkusen have scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga this season but have conceded 9 goals.

Kompany will be targeting the defence of Bayer Leverkusen and if they can continue their goal scoring exploits against the champions, this could be a season to remember for Bayern Munich fans.
