We may only be two games into the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, but the situation already looks bleak for Everton Football Club.

Ahead of round three, Sean Dyche’s side find themselves rock bottom of the table, having failed to register a point or a goal this season.

Everton started the season by suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, which promoted a section of the Goodison Park crowd to boo at full time.

Dyche’s men found themselves 2-0 down after 56 minutes before Ashley Young’s 66th-minute red card, with Simon Adingra scoring Brighton’s third goal late on.

The hosts saw just 38% of the ball while managing a solitary attempt on target, while the Seagulls dominated proceedings on Merseyside.

Last weekend, Tottenham Hotspur heaped more misery on Everton, as Ange Postecoglou’s side thrashed the Toffees 4-0 in North London.

Dyche’s side trailed 2-0 after just 25 minutes, with Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero each scoring after the break to seal the deal for Spurs.

Again, Everton managed to register just one shot on target throughout the contest, recording only 29% in the possession statistics.

As a result, the Toffees are looking up at the rest of the Premier League from last place, holding a record of two losses, zero goals scored and seven conceded.

Across their opening two games, Everton have registered a combined total of two shots on target and 67% possession, with 23 shots conceded.

It is worth remembering that Everton narrowly avoided relegation in 2022-23, finishing just two points clear of the drop zone that season.

The Toffees also finished just four points outside the bottom three in 2021-22, although they managed to climb to 15th place last term.
