Real Madrid and Real Sociedad will clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday in a massive La Liga top-three fixture.

Madrid go into the game in second place and three points off first-place Barcelona in the title race. Sociedad are third in the standings and six points behind Barcelona.

La Real will be happy with their position, as they try to achieve Champions League qualification.

Real Sociedad have not played Champions League football since the 2013-14 season. The financial windfall would be massive for Sociedad and their attempts to win more silverware.

Madrid are coming off a 2-0 win away to Athletic Bilbao last time out. Los Blancos are in up and down form currently. They took 10 points from their last six games in the league, with just three of those matches ending in wins.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team conceded seven times during the last six games and scored 10 goals. Real Madrid are unbeaten in seven games at the Bernabeu this season in La Liga. They posted five wins and two draws on the domestic front at home.

Sociedad are La Liga’s form team, as they took 16 points from the last six games. Manager Imanol Alguacil watched his team concede a mere three goals in the last six fixtures while bagging 12 goals. Sociedad are on a five-game winning streak in the division.

The last three Sociedad away games in La Liga ended as wins. The team has a seven-win, zero draw, and two-defeat record on the road this term.

In recent seasons, Real Sociedad played well in the first part of the campaign only to fall off the Champions League qualification places. La Real are not fading from the top four and could put in a far more sustained fight for Champions League qualification.

Madrid are unbeaten in five of their last six games against Sociedad. However, the Basque club is in form ahead of the match on Sunday.

Ancelotti will be without Eden Hazard, Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, David Alaba, and Aurelien Tchouameni due to injuries. Alguacil has a similar long injury list. He could be without around seven first-team players.

Despite the injuries Alguacil faces, Sociedad are in brilliant form. Striker Alexander Sorloth leads Sociedad in goals with eight, and Brais Mendez has added seven.

Real Sociedad could pull off an upset victory at the Bernabeu this weekend, as they continue their brilliant winning streak in La Liga. Sociedad could pick up a 2-1 away win against Madrid. The win would take the teams level on points.
