At the start of the Premier League campaign, Everton and star forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin were tearing up the league. The Toffees were top of the table in the early weeks of the campaign, a run of form on which they have built their European challenge.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team have at times been frustratingly inconsistent in the English top-flight.

One of the main reasons for that inconsistency has been the absences at different periods through the campaign through injury of Lucas Digne and James Rodriguez. The pair have been a major creative force for Everton this season.

Of course, Calvert-Lewin himself has only just returned to injury himself after missing games due to injury. However, the England international looked back to fitness when he came off the bench for a rather important cameo appearance in the 2-0 win at arch-rivals Liverpool last weekend.

There is no doubt that when given the chances, the 23-year-old will score goals, he has scored 13 goals in his 21 Premier League appearances for Ancelotti’s team this season, which is a creditable goal tally considering that he doesn’t’ take penalty kicks.

The England international now looks to have a fully-fit cast of suppliers, with James and Digne back to full fitness, as well Brazilian forward Richarlison starting to turn his form around in the top-flight too.

Calvert-Lewin will hope to finish the season in strong goalscoring form to ensure his place in England’s squad for Euro 2021. However, his goals will also be vitally important to the Toffees chances of playing European football next season too.

A top-six finish this season would mean progress for Everton. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has the attributes to ensure that the men from Merseyside will be going on a European tour next season.
