It’s FA Cup semi-finals weekend, and we’ve run through the four greatest ties in this round in the 151 years of FA Cup history.

Tottenham vs Arsenal - 1991

Two north London rivals battled it out in 1991 amidst Arsenal's glory years under George Graham and Tottenham Hotspur's league struggles in the early 1990s.

A famous 30-yard free-kick from Paul Gascoigne still gets played today, and rightfully so, as Spurs won 3-1 that day and went on to win the trophy by beating Nottingham Forest, which remains one of just three trophies they’ve racked up in 40 years.

Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday - 1993

Another derby day, but this time in Sheffield as Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday clashed in the Steel City derby.

The old Wembley saw 75,000 come out in attendance, and it was Wednesday who saw victory come their way with a 2-1 win in extra time after what was one of the closest and most intense semi-finals you could hope to witness.

Liverpool vs Everton - 2012

Liverpool and Everton were as close as they had been in the Premier League era by 2012 as they sat eighth and seventh in the table come the end of the season, and by meeting in the FA Cup semi-finals, it was a chance for the blue or red of Merseyside to claim bragging rights.

It was a sensational match, as Nikica Jelavic edged Everton ahead, before Liverpool equalised from Luis Suarez. The winning goal came with minutes to go as Andy Carroll etched his name in Liverpool folklore with a rare goal to finish the clash 2-1 up.

Arsenal vs Manchester United - 1999

There could only be one, and from the 151 years of the FA Cup, the battle between Manchester United and Arsenal will forever be remembered as the game that catapulted Sir Alex Ferguson’s side into belief they could truly win the treble.

The Red Devils were top of the league, battling it out in the Champions League, and a win here would mean they had a chance to win all three trophies inside 10 days.

The game was just as dramatic as its meaning as David Beckham scored a stunning first half goal, before Dennis Bergkamp equalised. The Dutchman had a chance to win it in extra time, but a penalty save from Peter Schmeichel kept United in it, and in what is still regarded as the most famous scene in modern FA Cup history, Ryan Giggs took on half the Arsenal team on the counter to score a breathtaking goal.

United won 2-1, and 10 days on, bagged an unrivaled treble.
