Do Spurs Have the Deadliest Front Three?
937
If you asked anyone who the deadliest front three has been in the Premier League over the past few seasons, the unbiased reply would be Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.
There was no better front three, who when on top form, could destroy any team in Europe. We have previously enjoyed a deadly front three of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar at Barcelona and the latter two players have since joined forces with Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.
However, following Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, there is talk of a new front three.
Antonio Conte has Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Dejan Kulusevski in attack and the trio could be about to take Spurs to the top four and qualification for the Champions League.
Son was the standout performer in terms of goals at Villa Park on Saturday as he bagged a Fantastic hattrick. The South Korean took all 3 goals in style and there was never any doubt the ball was going to finish in the back of the net.
Interestingly, 2 of the 3 goals were scored with what is considered Son’s weaker foot and that means he has 35 goals with his wrong foot to his name in the Premier League. Only Robin van Persie and teammate Harry Kane have more goals with their weaker foot than Son.
Moving to Kane and he was once again the creator for his fellow forwards against Aston Villa. The England striker assisted one of Son’s goals with a delightful header that sent the South Korean through on goal.
Kane also headed the ball into the path of Kulusevski to score. The assist for Son’s goal was the 21st Premier League assist by Kane for Son to score and assists to Son count for exactly 50% of all the goals created by Kane in the Premier League.
He is now only 3 assists to Son behind the record set by Frank Lampard to Didier Drogba at Chelsea.
Son is the top scorer in the Premier League for goals not including penalties and is the most in-form forward in the Premier League at the time of writing.
Kulusevski, who is currently on loan from Juventus with an option to buy, scored and created a goal in the 4-0 win at Aston Villa. The Swede has 9 attacking returns from 11 Premier League appearances, with only Kane and Son registering more assists and goals in the league in 2022.
Looking at the stats for 2022 in the Premier League and the trio of Kane, Son, and Kulusevski have the highest individual totals for goals and assists.
Spurs are in great form right now and they have a front three who are currently the deadliest in the Premier League, and perhaps Europe.
