The 3 Monumental Bundesliga Clashes You Have to Watch This Weekend
1840

The Bundesliga returned with a bang last weekend as we saw some monumental games take place which are set to shape the season ahead.

Bayern Munich established themselves further as the top side in Germany with a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig, while Borussia Dortmund lost in a stunning 5-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen which put BVB's title hopes at an all-time low this season and gave Leverkusen a serious chance of breaking into the top two as a result.

Here, we take a look at the games to watch this weekend and what results mean for the Bundesliga.

Union Berlin v Dortmund

Union Berlin are the surprise package of the Bundesliga this season as the club have racked up 33 points from 21 games and are still sitting in the Champions League spots. Now, should they beat Dortmund, the Berlin side will move within six points of the second-placed side in what has been a stunning campaign.

A win for BVB and their title quest gains a little bit more hope, but anything but all three points for the Black and Yellow and they will be in serious trouble within the Champions League spots.

Gladbach v Augsburg

While the likes of Union Berlin are surprising us all with excellent displays at the moment, Borussia Monchengladbach are on the other end of this. Following a 1-1 draw with Arminia Bielefeld, the club are still just a point away from the drop zone in what is turning out to be the German giants' worst-ever season in the Bundesliga.

A win for Augsburg and the two will simply switch places in the relegation zone, as Augsburg are currently occupying the final spot. It is set to be the biggest game of the season for either side.

Leipzig v Koln

In the final game to observe this Bundesliga gameweek, RB Leipzig welcomes FC Koln in what is a must-win game for either side this gameweek if they are to continue their aims of finishing in a European spot.

Koln, like Union Berlin, are upsetting the odds every week with their sixth-placed sitting right now and with the club now winning eight times and losing only five, Koln are also on the brink of breaking into the Champions League positions.

A win here may do that if other results go their way, but whatever the outcome, it is turning out to be a sensational campaign towards the top of the Bundesliga.
