The Top 5 Fixtures for Around Europe This Weekend as Top Flight Action Returns

Top flight action is returning around Europe this weekend and we take a look at the five fixtures to watch in what is one of the biggest weekends of the season on the fixture list in 2021/22.
After a crazy January transfer window, the relegation battle in the Premier League is now far from over. Burnley signed Wout Weghorst but also lost Chris Wood to Newcastle United, just as Watford brought on Roy Hodgson as the manager.
It’s one of the biggest games of the season down at the bottom as 20th meets with 19th, and only Watford can leap out of the drop zone here with a win.
As per the norm in Germany, Bayern Munich could once again be just a couple of weeks away from lifting the Bundesliga with their six-point gap on Borussia Dortmund looking too much to handle for BVB.
On the other hand, RB Leipzig's usual decent attempt at a title challenge has never got going this season and the club trail the league leaders Bayern by 18 points.
It also sees Julian Nagelsmann play hosts to his old side.
The Derby della Madonnina is always one of the most watched spectacles in Europe, but with Inter Milan as champions and AC Milan battling with them for the title once again, it's a must-win for both sides. A victory for the current kings of Serie A would create a seven-point gap on Milan with a further game in hand.
That would all but defeat Stefano Pioli’s men in the title race, but a win for his side and Inter’s gap at the top will be reduced to a mere point.
It’s been a strange season in La Liga as Atletico Madrid sit in fourth as the reigning champions of Spain, just as Barcelona are in fifth and are really struggling to get into the Champions League spots.
The winner here simply gets into this area, but as of now, Real Betis’ gap in third is too strong for either side to break in, while the top two of Sevilla and Real Madrid are nowhere to be seen in their eyes.
It’s a crucial game for their top four battle, as neither club can afford to lose Champions League football.
Second meets third in the Bundesliga this weekend as Dortmund look to close the gap on Bayern if they get halted by Leipzig.
On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen are just a point ahead of fourth-placed Union Berlin and trail BVB by eight points too.
