Are Juventus back in the Serie A title race?

Following a wretched start to the 2021-22 Serie A season, it feels like Juventus are finally starting to turn the corner under Max Allegri's watch.
On Sunday, the Bianconeri secured their fourth victory in five league games – dispatching lowly Genoa 2-0.
As a result, they now find themselves fifth in the Serie A table – level with sixth-place Fiorentina on 27 points.
There is very little between the top four sides at the moment, with Milan (38 points), Inter (37 points), Napoli (36 points) and Atalanta (34 points) separated by just four points.
Although Juventus are still seven points behind fourth-place Atalanta, there is a sense that they are heading in the right direction.
The Bianconeri managed to win just four of their opening 11 Serie A outings this term, registering three draws and four losses along the way.
Granted, the defeat to high-flying Napoli wasn’t all that bad. But losses to Empoli, Sassuolo and Hellas Verona were poor.
Since then, however, Juve have taken 12 points from a possible 15, with their only loss in that time coming against in-form Atalanta.
Not only have Allegri’s men won four of their previous five league games, but they have also kept four clean sheets in the process.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has now kept five clean sheets in 13 Serie A matches, giving him a shutout rate of 38.5%.
At the opposite end of the pitch, Paulo Dybala has been key to Juve’s turnaround – scoring in back-to-back games last weekend.
The Argentine forward has notched eight goals and four assists in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.
Juan Cuadrado has chipped in with a couple of important strikes recently, too, scoring in the 1-0 win over Fiorentina before netting against Genoa last time out.
Of course, there is still plenty of work to do before Juventus can class themselves as “fixed”. After all, Andrea Pirlo left the team in a bit of a mess.
But with Allegri back at the helm, the Bianconeri appear to be find their feet once again – and that is bad news for the rest of Serie A.
Let’s not forget that Allegri guided the Old Lady to five consecutive scudetti between 2015 and 2019. That tells you everything you need to know about his ability.
With well over half of the season remaining, don’t be surprised if Juventus continue to close the gap on the frontrunners.
