Norwich City v Bristol City - Match Preview

This next match has all the potential of being an absolute blockbuster with Championship league leaders, Norwich City, taking on 6th placed Bristol City at Carrow Road with a precious three points up for grabs for both sides in their hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

Starting with Norwich City, and The Canaries are certainly singing again from the top of the Championship following their emphatic dismantling of Bolton Wanderers in a 4-0 rout at the Macron Stadium last weekend, and Norwich manager Daniel Farke would have been pleased by his side’s response following their disappointing 3-1 loss at Preston North End in the previous match.

Norwich City have now won three of their last four, and although they’ve lost four matches at home this season, they’ve tended not to deal in draws in this campaign, and rather dealt in wins which has helped them to the top of the league with a two point lead ahead of Sheffield United and Leeds United.

Integral to Norwich’s success has been the form of their prolific striker Teemu Pukki who has plundered 23 goals so far this term in the Championship, and he’s certainly in a rich vein of form right now, scoring 8 goals from his last 6 matches, while scoring a total of 60 goals so far in just over the past two and a half seasons to date.

Onto Bristol city, and the visitors should definitely not be ruled out of this contest even though the bookmakers have made them very clear underdogs ahead of this mouthwatering clash at Carrow Road.

The Robins have won their last seven matches on the trot in the Championship and possess an unbeaten run of 13 league matches which is some record, as they occupy a deserved play-off position ahead of this weekend’s action.

Bristol City have also won five of their last six matches away form home too with wins at Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, so choosing an outright winner of this match appears to be harder than the bookmaker’s odds would have you believe.

In addition, the last meeting between these two sides was an entertaining 2-2 draw at Ashton Gate back in mid-December, so there appears to be little to separate these two sides.

However, the goalscoring exploits of Norwich City striker, Teemu Pukki, could be the deciding factor in the outcome of this match and backing him to score anytime perhaps looks the best option in what might turn out to be a tight clash.
