Rayo Vallecano have made a poor start to their campaign in La Liga this season. To make matters worse the minnows welcome reigning champions Barcelona to the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night.

Rayo are currently second from bottom in the Spanish top-flight, having picked up just six points from their first ten league games of the campaign.

The home side has now failed to win in their last seven outings in the league, and have suffered three defeats in their last four La Liga outings. Last time out in the Spanish top-flight Rayo suffered a 2-1 defeat at Girona.

The Girona game followed a familiar pattern for the home side of late, as both teams have scored in six of their last seven games in the Spanish top-flight.

Rayo’s recent form on home soil has not helped their position in the table, as they have failed to win in five league games on home soil.

Barcelona are back at the top of La Liga after wins against Sevilla and last time out a 5-1 home hammering of arch-rivals Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.

The Catalan giants have been relatively prolific of late, scoring at least two goals in five of their last eight games in La Liga. Both teams have also scored in their last eight league matches.

The Blaugrana have a mixed recent away record in the Spanish top-flight, but they have won just two of their last five games on their travels in La Liga. Both teams have also scored in seven of their last eight away games in the Spanish top-flight.

However, recent history in this fixture is on Barcelona’s side, as they have won their last 11 games against the home side in all competitions.

Forebet predicts that Barcelona will add to the home side’s woes by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
