On Thursday night, La Liga leaders Barcelona face a trip to Gran Canaria to face struggling Las Palmas, in a game that could prove vital at both ends of the table.

Las Palmas are currently 18th place in the table but are just a point away from safety. A poor run of form in the league of late has not helped the home side’s chances of survival this season. Paco Jemez’s side have won just two of their last 11 outings in the Spanish top-flight. Last time out the Islanders drew 0-0 at Leganes.

Their recent league games have been relatively low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games in the Spanish top-flight.

Las Palmas do not have a great recent home record in La Liga, as they have won just three of their last ten home games in the league. The Islanders recent home games in La Liga have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five games.

Barcelona are currently seven points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga. However, Atletico can cut the gap to four points with a victory over Leganes on Wednesday night.

It seems unlikely that the visitors will slip up in this clash, as they are now 32 games unbeaten in La Liga and looking like champions. Last time out in the Spanish top-flight, Ernesto Valverde’s side hammered Girona 6-1 at the Nou Camp.

The win means that Barcelona have now scored two or more goals in ten of their last 12 games in La Liga. The visitors do not have a bad recent away record either, as they are unbeaten in 16 games on their travels in La Liga.

Forebet predicts that the league leaders will pick up a victory in this clash in a goal-filled encounter.
