Toffees to trump Boro on Saturday
Middlesbrough have been sucked into the Premier League relegation battle courtesy of a run of form that has seen the north east side fail to win in their last seven league outings.
The north east side’s prospect of a return to winning ways in the near future do not great, as on Saturday they welcome in-form Everton to the Riverside Stadium.
Ronald Koeman’s side have hit form of late winning five of their last seven games in the Premier League and remaining unbeaten in the league in that good run. Last time out the men from Merseyside hammered Bournemouth 6-3 at Goodison Park, with star striker Romelu Lukaku firing home four goals to leap to the top of the English top-flight's scoring charts.
Everton have been in good form in front of goal in the top-flight of late, as Koeman’s side have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven top-flight outings. If Boro are going to have any chance of picking up anything from this game Boro will have to stop the visitor’s vibrant attacking play.
However, Boro may just have the defensive solidarity to pull that off, as only Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United have conceded less than Aitor Karanka’s side’s tally of 27 this season in the Premier League. In fact, they have conceded the same amount of goals as their seventh-place opponents.
The problems the north east side have had this season in the league have been at the other end of the pitch. Karanka’s team have scored just 19 times in the top-flight, which is the lowest tally of any team in the English Premier League.
The north east side’s struggles in front of goal are perfectly illustrated by the fact that they have scored just six times in their last seven home outings in the Premier League. The likes of Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford were signed in January, but neither have had a chance to make much of an impact.
Forebet predicts that Boro will draw another blank at home and the Toffees will head home to Merseyside with maximum points.
