Celtic in for another tough night against Barcelona

Celtic host Spanish champions Barcelona at Celtic Park on Wednesday night in the Champions League, with the home side looking to avoid another humiliating defeat against the Catalan giants.

In the reverse fixture, Barcelona hammered the Bhoys 7-0 at the Nou Camp. The Scottish champions have not endured the greatest of group campaigns, picking up just two points from their four games so far.

The visit of Barcelona does not seem like a chance for the Hoops to pick up that first Champions League win of the campaign. The Scottish champions have beaten the Catalan side just once in nine games in this competition and also suffered seven defeats.

Celtic look to be out of the race for the last-16 spots. However, they could still be in contention for third spot and a place in the Europa League. The fact that their last two games are against Barcelona at home and City away does not suggest Brendan Rodgers side will pick up many more points in the group.

There is one bright spot for Celtic in the fact that the Scottish champions have suffered just one defeat in their last 13 outings since that humiliating loss in Catalonia. There is also the fact that Barcelona failed to score last time out against Malaga.

However, that could work against Celtic, as both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez missed the game against Malaga. Both will be restored to the starting line-up for this clash. The Spanish champions have not failed to score in any of their eight away games this season, so the Hoops defence could be in for a long night.

If Celtic can get anything out of this game it will be a major result. Forebet predicts a comfortable Barcelona win and that seems like a very shrewd bet for this clash.
