Tottenham face a tough task at Monaco

Tottenham head into game week five of the Champions League with the very real possibility of exiting the competition. Spurs face a tough trip to face Group E leaders Monaco on Tuesday night and the north London side are underdogs to record a vital win in the clash.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men find themselves third in the group and four points behind Tuesday night’s opponents in the table. A factor that has contributed to Spurs current poor position is the fact that they have lost both of their home games in the competition, which included a 2-1 defeat against Monaco at Wembley.
All of Tottenham’s four group points have come on the road, so that is at least one positive heading into this game for the team from north London. The fact that they ended a run of seven games without a win in all competitions last time with a 3-2 victory over West Ham is another positive.
However, Pochettino’s team will need to take all the positives they can to the principality, as Monaco have been in fine form of late. The home side have won their last three consecutive games, scoring 12 times and not conceding.
Tottenham’s away form has been poor as they have not won any of their last five games on their travels. In fact, Spurs last away win came in a 1-0 victory against CSKA Moscow in this competition.
Depending on what happens in the other game Spurs could very well be eliminated from the competition. If Bayer Leverkusen defeat CSKA in the other group game and Tottenham fails to win this clash then Pochettino’s side will be out of contention for a place in the last-16.
