Red Devils to trump the Saints at Old Trafford

Red Devils to trump the Saints at Old Trafford

Manchester United hosts Southampton on Friday in what will be Jose Mourinho second Premier League game in charge of the Red Devils.

The new United boss and the fans will have been encouraged by the performances of the Red Devils so far this season. The season has started well with a win over Leicester in the Community Shield and last weekend a victory Bournemouth in their first league of the campaign.

The new players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly have settled easily into the team. In fact, Ibrahimovic has scored has in both of his United appearances so far.

Young Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly also won the man of the match against Bournemouth after producing an assured performance on his Premier League debut.

The performance against the Cherries was not even United at their best. World-record signing Paul Pogba missed the Bournemouth victory through suspension, but should make his debut in this clash.

Southampton under new French boss Claude Puel looks like a work in progress, as the players get to grips with a new boss and new ideas. The Saints produced a mixed performance in their opening day 1-1 draw with Watford.

New signing Nathan Redmond was one of the bright spots, scoring the Saints goal and generally looking lively. The former-Norwich star was one of the teams plus points in pre-season playing in a central striker role.

If the youngster is fielded as a striker he will face a tough task getting the better of Bailly at Old Trafford. United’s displays this season have been encouraging under Mourinho so far, but there is a sense that the best is definitely yet to come from the Portuguese’s developing team.
