Croatia have good chance to book last 16 place

Croatia started their Euro 2016 campaign kicked-off with a convincing 1-0 win over Turkey. The result really did not tell the whole story of the domination from Ante Cacic’s team, as they hit the woodwork.

The Eastern European side look like they can go very far in France and their opening game showed just how well-balanced their team truly are. Croatia have an embarrassment of riches in midfield, especially in the likes of Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic.

All three of the trio were influential in the opening game and are plyers that play at the highest level at club level. Modric finished the campaign as a European champion with Real Madrid and his finish in the opening game showed just what the former-Tottenham star can produce.

Rakitic is now plying his trade at Barcelona alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic is a highly-dangerous player, who offers a good focal point to their attack.

The Czech Republic were obviously cautious against Spain in their opening game and came close to nicking a point. However, the Czech’s were limited in going forward and are likely to be more ambitious against Croatia.

Whether they can cause Croatia enough problems at the back is doubtful, as striker Tomas Necid has not been prolific in international football. If Pavel Vrba’s team push too far forward Croatia have the players capable of taking advantage.

A win for Croatia would see them through to the knockout stages, while it is a must-not-lose game for Czech Republic.
