Real Madrid may have momentum to make Champions League last four
Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Wolfsburg was highly surprising.
Everybody in the football predictions business believed that Zinedine Zidane’s team would easily beat the out-of-form German outfit, but football has the ability to surprise and that’s why the fan s love the beautiful game.
Los Blancos headed into the clash with the Wolves on a five match winning run in all competitions and have since returned to winning ways with a 4-0 home defeat of Eibar in La Liga.
In fact that defeat is the only time that Zidane’s team have failed to win in their last eight outings in all competitions. A two goal victory would take the tie into extra-time, but a bigger victory could see the side from the Spanish capital to the semi-finals once again.
The possibility of a big Real victory cannot be ruled out, as they have scored two or more goals in their last four home outings in all competitions. Zidane’s team have also kept clean sheets in their last four Champions League games at the Bernabeu.
All signs point to Real Madrid being able to turn this tie around in the second leg, especially as the win in the first leg was Wolfsburg only victory in their last five outings.
Real Madrid have the quality and now the momentum to make it through to the semi-finals of this competition. It would be difficult to back against Zidane’s making the semi-finals.
