The Premier League is home to some of the greatest goalscorers in world football. However, even the best strikers miss chances. Which players have missed the most big chances this season? Let’s find out.

5. Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea (12)

It would not be unfair to say that Nicolas Jackson has made an inconsistent start to life at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old has scored goals in 19 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, missing 12 big chances along the way.

Since netting a hat-trick in November’s 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Jackson has scored just twice in nine league games. Naturally, he will be eager to rediscover his best form when he returns from the Africa Cup of Nations.

4. Alexander Isak, Newcastle United (12)

Like Jackson, Alexander Isak has missed 12 big chances in the Premier League this season. However, the Newcastle United forward has been more prolific than his Chelsea counterpart, bagging 10 goals in 16 league outings.

It is also worth noting that Isak has scored in three consecutive games since Boxing Day, finding the back of the net against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Manchester City.

3. Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa (13)

Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has racked up more goal involvements than Ollie Watkins this term. Still, the Aston Villa striker has missed 13 big chances in the Premier League.

After scoring eight goals in nine matches between September and December, Watkins has managed to net a solitary goal in his last seven appearances. That said, he has contributed eight assists this season.

2. Erling Haaland, Manchester City (17)

Of course, Erling Haaland is renowned for scoring goals. But he also squanders his fair share of opportunities. In fact, the Manchester City superstar has missed 17 big chances in 15 Premier League appearances this term.

Haaland bagged 14 goals in 15 outings – including three braces and one hat-trick – before missing five matches due to a stress fracture in his foot. Needless to say, he will be desperate to make up for lost time when he returns.

1. Darwin Nunez, Liverpool (18)

If you watch the Premier League on a regular basis, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that Darwin Nunez has missed the most big chances in the division this season.

The Liverpool striker has missed a whopping 18 big chances in 19 appearances, scoring only five goals in the process. Despite continuously finding himself in advantageous positions, Nunez can’t seem to establish a rhythm in front of goal.
