English Premier League Over the Festive Period

English Premier League Over the Festive Period
1334

The 2023 holiday season will be a busy one for Premier League clubs. Once again, clubs are packing in the fixtures in cup and league competitions.

The holiday period will present one of the games of the season, as second-place Liverpool host first-place Arsenal at Anfield.

The match will have a direct effect on the Premier League title race.

Third-place Aston Villa and fourth-place Manchester City will hope to take advantage of the result between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Following the match at Anfield, Liverpool will head to Burnley for Boxing Day. Newcastle will then travel to Anfield for New Year’s day.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will face West Ham. The Gunners will then face off with Fulham in a London Derby on New Year’s Eve.

Liverpool or Arsenal could see their title challenge end this holiday season.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa, the surprise team in the league this season, have a winnable trip to Sheffield United before visiting Manchester United.

The Villains will then return home for a visit from Burnley. Aston Villa could lead the league after the holidays.

Manchester City are currently playing at the FIFA Club World Cup. Once they return to the Premier League, City will face a trip to Everton before welcoming Sheffield United to the Etihad Stadium.

The City’s will go into the holiday season with just one win in their last six league games. Still, just five points separate Pep Guardiola’s team from the top of the table.

Tottenham, Newcastle, and Manchester United are all trying to crack the top four. However, the three teams will need to find some form to do so. United’s game against Aston Villa on Boxing Day will be a cracker.

Their match versus Villa will be sandwiched between a game versus West Ham and Nottingham Forest. Newcastle United are now out of two of three cup competitions this season.

Eddie Howe’s team lost to Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals. The defeat came just days after being knocked out of the Champions League.

The Magpies will hope to go to Anfield on New Year’s Day and cause a shock at a stadium they simply do not win at.

Tottenham are still in the title race and six points off Arsenal. Spurs will face difficult clashes with Everton, Brighton, and Bournemouth over the holidays. It may be a miracle if Spurs are still in the title race by the time 2024 rolls
