Dinamo Zagreb have won 16 Croatian Cup titles, the most of any team in the domestic cup competition. Will our score predictor back Zagreb to lift a 17th Croatian Cup in midweek?

Zagreb will play Rijeka at the Stadion HDN Rijeka on Wednesday in the second leg of the Croatian Cup. The tournament final is a two-legged affair, and the second match will crown the competition’s winner.

The first leg between the rival clubs ended nil-nil at the Stadion Maksimir in Zagreb. Despite a lack of goals, the two sides produced an exciting fixture. Everything is left to play for in the second leg on Wednesday.

Rijeka and Dinamo Zagreb have played 88 times dating back to 2003. Dinamo hold the edge in head-to-head matches, with a record of 47W-21D-20L. Zagreb outscored Rijeka 171-92 during that time.

The pressure will be on Rijeka to get a win. The home side have not defeated Dinamo Zagreb in their last 11 head-to-head matches. Dinamo won nine of those 11 games, while two ended in draws.

Rijeka’s most recent win over Dinamo was in 2019 in the quarterfinals of the Croatian Cup. It was the last time the two clubs met in the Croatian Cup prior to this season.

The Croatian top flight has one more matchday to play, with Zagreb set to win the title. Rijeka are second in the standings ahead of the final day.

They cannot finish outside of second place.

Rijeka’s domestic and cup form has been abysmal of late. They failed to win each of their last five matches in all competitions. Rijeka scored just three goals during that time.

These clubs played twice already in May, with Dinamo winning 2-1 in the league and drawing nil-nil in the cup final. Dinamo Zagreb are the favourites ahead of the final to win. Rijeka will aim to upset the odds, but based on history, it doesn’t appear likely.

Bruno Petkovic leads Dinamo Zagreb in goals with 11 in the Croatian HNL. However, it is Petkovic’s teammates Sandro Kulenovic and Josip Drmic that lead the team in cup goals. Kulenovic has scored four times and Drmic has three goals.

Rijeka’s Franjo Ivanovic has also scored four goals in the Croatian Cup. Ivanovic has added six goals to the team’s league cause. Niko Jankovic has tallied eight league goals for Rijeka.

Dinamo Zagreb have a great win-loss record against Rijeka in all competitions. Indeed, they are unbeaten in 11 straight games, and on Wednesday night, in the cup final second leg, should post a win by a score of 3-1 to lift a 17th Croatian Cup.
