Sevilla and Mallorca to clash in La Liga six-point relegation battle
3158

Sevilla and Mallorca are close to La Liga safety for another season. However, neither team is mathematically safe just yet.

Will our score prediction back one of these teams for a win on Monday night in La Liga?

Sevilla are on a two-match winning streak in the league ahead of Mallorca’s arrival at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Los Rojiblancos are up to 13th position, with nine points separating them from the relegation zone.

A win would inch Sevilla closer to survival after a season of difficulties. It is difficult to believe Sevilla won the Europa League last season due to the awful form they have been in for much of the current campaign.

Mallorca were beaten in the Copa del Rey final by Athletic Bilbao on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

It was a bitter defeat. Javier Aguirre’s men need to dust themselves and finish the season strong.

Six points currently separate the Islanders from the bottom three. They failed to win any of their last two La Liga matches. Mallorca failed to score in either of those matches.

Mallorca have La Liga’s second-worst offence. They scored just 25 goals in 31 matches.

Although their defence has played well, with just 36 goals conceded, Mallorca’s attack has failed to get the goals needed to be higher up the table.

Sevilla’s defence kept clean sheets in the last two matches. Mallorca won’t want to play against this defence due to their goal scoring issues.

However, Mallorca will be buoyed by Sevilla’s poor record at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Sevilla have a home record of 4W-5D-6L and a -2-goal difference in La Liga. Their last home match was a shock 2-1 loss to Celta Vigo.

While Sevilla aren’t great at home, Mallorca are diabolical on the road. Just one win was tallied in Mallorca’s 15 road fixtures.

They posted a -12-goal difference during that 15-match span. The Islanders took a mere three points from the last six road games–all coming from draws.

Vedat Muriqi and Abdon Prats lead Mallorca in goals with five apiece. They accounted for 40% of Mallorca’s scoring.

Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri has 11 goals this season to lead the team in goal scoring stats. No Sevilla player other than En-Nesyri has more than four goals.

With both teams chasing safety from relegation, our score prediction is for Sevilla and Mallorca to draw 1-1. It should be a close fixture, with neither team able to get the upper hand at the end of 90 minutes.
