Real Madrid will be looking to take another step towards a record-extending 36th La Liga title when they entertain arch-rivals Barcelona at the Bernabeu on Sunday evening.

With seven matches remaining, table-topping Real Madrid sit eight points clear of second-placed Barcelona, who will be eager to upset their old foes this weekend.

Can Los Blancos extend their lead at the summit to 11 points? Or will Barca close the gap to five? Keep reading to discover what Forebet’s AI algorithm predicts.

On Wednesday, Real Madrid booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a penalty shootout victory over Manchester City in England.

That triumph extended Los Blancos’ unbeaten streak to 16 matches across all competitions, with a solitary defeat coming in their last 38 encounters.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have enjoyed a near-perfect La Liga campaign, losing just one of their 31 matches while conceding a measly 20 goals.

Better still, Real Madrid have won 13 of their 15 home league games this season, remaining unbeaten at the Bernabeu across all competitions in 2023-24.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, they failed to join Real Madrid in the UCL semi-finals, suffering a 4-1 (6-4) defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

That result ended a six-game winning streak for Xavi’s side, who enjoyed a run of 13 matches without defeat between late January and mid-April.

Barca have lost just one of their last 15 La Liga clashes, picking up away wins at Real Betis, Las Palmas, Deportivo Alaves, Celta Vigo, Atletico Madrid and Cadiz in that time.

Impressively, Barca have yet to taste defeat on their La Liga travels this season, securing nine wins and six draws on the road in 2023-24.

Head-to-head: Real Madrid have won each of their last three meetings with Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 10 goals in the process (3.3 goals per game).

Given that 11 of the previous 12 encounters between the teams have produced over 2.5 goals, Sunday’s clash will likely be a high-scoring affair.

Team news: Real Madrid are still without long-term injury absentees Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba, who both remain sidelined due to knee problems.

On the flip side, Barcelona midfielder Gavi remains sidelined with a knee issue, while Alejandro Blade is absent due to a muscle injury.

If recent meetings between Real Madrid and Barcelona are anything to go by, Sunday’s encounter will produce multiple goals and plenty of drama.

Forebet predicts that Los Blancos and Barca will combine for over 2.5 goals at the Bernabeu, with the visitors outscoring the hosts on this occasion.
