Shakhtar Donetsk seeking to end Barcelona’s 100% UCL Group H record

Shakhtar Donetsk head into matchday No. 4 in the Champions League group stage with just three points from three games. On Tuesday night, the Miners will host Barcelona in Group H.

Barcelona started the Champions League in great form. The Blaugrana have a 100% winning record in Group H and could qualify for the knockout stage with a win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

FC Porto are currently in fourth place in Group H, with six points. They are Barcelona’s only competition for first place in the group.

A win over Shakhtar Donetsk would put Barcelona on 12 points from four games. It would be enough points for Barcelona to qualify for the next round as first or second.

Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona met on matchday No. 3 of Group H. The Blaugrana won 2-1 thanks to two first-half goals from Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Heorhiy Sudakov pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute, but the Miners couldn’t get any closer.

Barcelona outshot their Group H rivals 19-11 and kept 54% possession. Shakhtar Donetsk only tallied one shot on target.

Xavi’s Barcelona go into Group H matchday No. 3 following a 1-0 win away to Real Sociedad in La Liga. The win came after an El Clasico loss to Real Madrid.

Barca’s only loss this season was at the hands of Madrid. Barcelona won four matches and drew three times in seven away fixtures this season in all competitions.

Shakhtar Donetsk go into the match unbeaten in their last two matches. They defeated rival Dynamo Kyiv at the weekend.

The Miners lost 3-1 to FC Porto in their previous home match in Group H. Tuesday’s match will be just the second fixture hosted by Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stage this season.

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Yukhym Konoplya will miss the match due to a suspension. Xavi, on the other hand, will be without midfielder Sergi Roberto due to a calf injury.

Midfielder Frenkie de Jong is a doubt to make the squad following an ankle injury.

Barcelona conceded just one goal in their opening three Champions League Group H games. That goal was scored by Shakhtar Donetsk. Could the Miners get a goal against the Blaugrana again?

Barcelona are unbeaten in Group H and are the strongest side in the group. Xavi’s team should find a way to get points once more and progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.
