Can Chelsea Get Back on Track Against Blackburn?
2651

Chelsea are back at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday evening to meet with Blackburn Rovers from the Championship with the Blues looking to get back on track just days after suffering another home loss to Brentford.

Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt be looking at this fixture as one that could help salvage something out of a dark period for the club.

In reality, a cup run in the EFL Cup is likely all Chelsea have to boast about this season, at least until the FA Cup starts.

Blackburn, however, are not exactly in much better form themselves.

After a 1-0 loss to Swansea City at home over the weekend, the Lancashire side now sit down in 12th of the Championship and are struggling to show fans they can put together another cup run.

Rovers did defeat Millwall before this, as Joe Rankin-Costello got another goal before a winner from Callum Brittain in a comeback win.

Rankin-Costello also scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Cardiff City before that.

Despite sitting down in 12th, Blackburn have managed to win six of their 14 games this season in the league, but it is their seven defeats that leaves them with a poor record across the board this campaign.

Rovers have also let in 23 goals already from 14 matches, meaning only Norwich City, Huddersfield Town and Queens Park Rangers have worse defensive records in the Championship.

Chelsea will be looking at a return to the win column in this match after two winless games in a row that saw them lose a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal before Brentford beat them at Stamford Bridge for the second season in a row.

Like Blackburn, Chelsea now sit outside of the top half of their own league table with only three wins on the board and four losses.

This has seen them put together a dismal record of 13 goals scored and 11 conceded.

They did, however, manage to beat Brighton & Hove Albion in their third round EFL Cup game back in September, as Nicolas Jackson scored the game’s only goal.

The Blues also beat Fulham in a west London derby shortly after that before then smashing Burnley 4-1 with goals from Raheem Sterling, Jackson and Cole Palmer.

It did mean three wins in a row under Pochettino, but things have since fallen apart. Forebet does predict Chelsea to win this game, however, and for over 2.5 goals.
