Fantasy Premier League – FPL Picks, Best Players and More for Gameweek 5
3814

For the first time this season, we have a full round of midweek Premier League fixtures to get our teeth into. Consequently, FPL managers don’t have long to make transfers and finalise their teams.

Gameweek 5 gets underway on Tuesday, August 30, with the deadline set for 18:00 (BST). Before we take a look at the best players for FPL Gameweek 5, let’s check out the fixtures.

  • Crystal Palace vs. Brentford
  • Fulham vs. Brighton
  • Southampton vs. Chelsea
  • Leeds vs. Everton
  • Bournemouth vs. Wolves
  • Man City vs. Nottm Forest
  • Arsenal vs. Aston Villa
  • West Ham vs. Tottenham
  • Liverpool vs. Newcastle
  • Leicester vs. Man Utd

As you can see, Man City have a favourable home game against Nottm Forest. Liverpool and Arsenal host Aston Villa and Newcastle, respectively, with Chelsea visiting Southampton and Tottenham heading to West Ham.

Without further ado, here are the best FPL players for Gameweek 5.

Goalkeepers

Dean Henderson (Nottm Forest) saved his second penalty of the season last weekend. Although he faces Man City on Wednesday, he is destined to become a popular pick in the coming weeks.

Ederson (Man City), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) and Alisson (Liverpool) are the best high-priced goalkeepers for Gameweek 5. Meanwhile, Robert Sanchez (Brighton) is arguably the best mid-priced option.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) racked up a whopping 17 points as Liverpool crushed Bournemouth 9-0 last time out. Can he – and the rest of the Liverpool backline – build on that performance when Newcastle come to town?

Diogo Dalot (Man Utd), Gabriel (Arsenal) and Kurt Zouma (West Ham) also picked up plenty of FPL points in the previous round. Still, William Saliba (Arsenal) remains the highest-scoring defender in the game.

Midfielders

Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) and Luis Diaz (Liverpool) were the standout midfielders in Gameweek 4. Pascal Gross (Brighton), Pablo Fornals (West Ham), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) and Ruben Neves (Wolves) also achieved double figures.

FPL managers are bound to target Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) and other City midfielders with Forest visiting the Etihad Stadium this week. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) and Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) are also great picks.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (Man City) is the obvious forward pick for Gameweek 5. The Norwegian netted a hat-trick last time out, meaning he will be confident of doing some serious damage to Forest’s backline.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) bagged a brace against Forest at the weekend, while Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) racked up two goals and three assists. Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) is another excellent – and underpriced – option.
