Fantasy Premier League – FPL Picks, Best Players and More for Gameweek 2
3381

Fantasy Premier League returned with a bang last weekend. As expected, Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland were among the highest scorers. Will they dominate once again Gameweek 2?

The Gameweek 2 deadline is 11:00 (BST) on Saturday, August 13, 1.5 hours before Aston Villa host Everton. Before we go over the best FPL players for Gameweek 2, let’s examine the fixtures.

  • Aston Villa vs. Everton
  • Southampton vs. Leeds
  • Arsenal vs. Leicester
  • Brighton vs. Newcastle
  • Man City vs. Bournemouth
  • Wolves vs. Fulham
  • Brentford vs. Man Utd
  • Nottm Forest vs. West Ham
  • Chelsea vs. Tottenham
  • Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace

Manchester City’s home game against Bournemouth instantly catches the eye, as does Liverpool’s favorable clash with Crystal Palace. We also have the small matter of Chelsea vs. Tottenham to get our teeth into.

Without further ado, here are the best players for FPL Gameweek 2.

Goalkeepers

Ederson (Man City) and Alisson (Liverpool) are the obvious picks between the sticks this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side could not have dreamed of an easier fixture, while the Reds will be confident of keeping Palace quiet.

Alongside Ederson, Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Mark Travers (Bournemouth), Nick Pope (Newcastle), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) all kept a clean sheet on the opening weekend. Can they repeat the feat in Gameweek 2?

Defenders

Fabian Schar (Newcastle), Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) and Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth) were the highest-scoring defenders in Gameweek 1. Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) and Emerson Royal (Tottenham) picked up nine points apiece.

This week, Joao Cancelo (Man City), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Reece James (Chelsea) will be among the most popular defensive picks. Ivan Perisic (Tottenham) also has the potential to score big if he gets decent minutes.

Midfielders

Although Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Dejan Kulusevski (Tottenham) caught the eye last weekend, Pascal Gross (Brighton) was the highest-scoring midfielder – bagging a brace in Brighton’s victory over Man Utd.

Elsewhere, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester), Daniel Podence (Wolves), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) and Rodrigo (Leeds) all kicked off the campaign with FPL returns.

Forwards

The obvious forward pick for Gameweek 2 is Erling Haaland (Man City), who netted a double on his Premier League debut. The lethal striker has the potential to make a mockery of Bournemouth’s backline.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Darwin Nunez (Liverpool) and Ivan Toney (Brentford), Kieffer Moore (Bournemouth) and Callum Wilson (Newcastle) also found the back of the net last weekend.
