2022/23 Fantasy Premier League – 5 Underpriced Picks to Target
1745

The 2022/23 Fantasy Premier League season is on the horizon. With less than a month until the new campaign kicks off, it’s time to look at the top underpriced players.

There are always bargains to be found at the beginning of every FPL season. If you select the right budget picks, you could get a head start on the competition.

• Pedro Neto, Wolverhampton Wanderers (£5.5m/MID)

Granted, Pedro Neto missed the majority of the previous campaign due to injury. But having displayed heaps of promise in recent years, his FPL price of £5.5m feels extremely generous.

After returning from injury last season, the Portuguese averaged 0.39 goals and assists, 3.28 shots and 2.5 key passes per 90 minutes. Let’s not forget that he also bagged five goals and six assists during the 2020/21 campaign.

• Edouard Mendy, Chelsea (£5.0m/GK)

In truth, the majority of top goalkeepers are underpriced in FPL this season. Liverpool’s Alisson and Manchester City’s Ederson are both £5.5m, but Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy is arguably the pick of the bunch at £5.0m.

The Senegalese shot-stopper finished third on the shutout leaderboard last term, keeping 16 clean sheets. Boasting an excellent save percentage of 73%, Mendy is bound to be a popular pick this year.

• Reece James, Chelsea (£6.0m/DEF)

Another Chelsea player who offers incredible value is Reece James. The marauding wing-back has the potential to pick up both defensive and attacking returns in FPL, making him a bargain at £6.0m.

Despite missing 12 games through injury, James still managed to rack up five goals and nine assists in the Premier League last term. Just imagine what he would achieve with a full season under his belt!

• Luis Diaz, Liverpool (£8.0m/MID)

At £8.0m, Luis Diaz is the most expensive player on this list. But when you consider what the Liverpool winger is capable of, he could prove to be an absolute bargain as the 2022/23 campaign unfolds.

Following his winter move from Porto, the Colombian contributed six goals and five assists across all competitions for Liverpool. In the Premier League, he averages 0.66 goal involvements and 3.57 shots per 90.

• Ivan Perisic, Tottenham Hotspur (£5.5m/DEF)

Although Ivan Perisic is classed as a defender in FPL, he looks set to operate as an attacking wing-back in Antonio Conte’s system. That makes the new Tottenham signing a hugely attractive option.

The Croation chalked up eight goals and six assists for Inter Milan last term, accumulating the third-highest xA (expected assists) along the way. Will you select Perisic in your Gameweek 1 team?
