The race for the top four is far from over in the Italian Serie A and there are four teams who are battling to finish in the final Champions League position.

The match between Salernitana and Atalanta will be played on the 6th of May at the Stadio Arechi. The hosts begin this round of games bottom of the table on 15 points while the visitors are in 6th place on 57 points.

Salernitana come into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Frosinone last weekend in Serie A.

Salernitana conceded the opening goal after only 10 minutes and were 2-0 down 15 minutes later. Into the second half and Frosinone scored their third goal in the 85th minute.

The defeat at Frosinone means Salernitana have failed to win any of their last 17 fixtures in all competitions.

They have lost 6 of their 7 most recent matches in Serie A, with the additional defeats coming against Lecce and Fiorentina at home plus Cagliari, Bologna, and Lazio away.

The only game that did not end in defeat was the 2-2 draw at home with Sassuolo.

The stats show Salernitana have won just 5 of their last 30 home matches in Serie A.

They have lost 7 of their last 8 home league games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 18 Serie A fixtures on home soil.

Atalanta make the trip to the Stadio Arechi having played at Marseille in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.

Their most recent game in Serie A was last weekend and Atalanta recorded a 2-0 home victory over Empoli. Atalanta scored both goals either side of half time to claim maximum points.

The win over Empoli means Atalanta are undefeated in 5 of their last 6 Serie A games.

There have been wins at Napoli and Monza plus draws at Juventus and at home against Verona. The only defeat was a disappointing 2-1 loss at Cagliari.

Trends show Atalanta are undefeated in 3 of their 4 most recent away Serie A fixtures.

They have lost only 2 of their last 8 away league matches and have been scoring goals on the road.

Atalanta have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 5 away games in Serie A and have scored 2 or more goals in 3 of their last 4 away trips in the league.

Looking ahead to the team news and Salernitana are without suspended midfielder Niccolò Pierozzi. Guillermo Ochoa, Giulio Maggiore, and Grigoris Kastanos are injured plus there are doubts over the fitness of Norbert Gyömber and Jérome Boateng.

Atalanta travel without suspended defender Isak Hien. Rafael Toloi and Emil Holm are both injured and the squad will be assessed following the game in Marseille.

Salernitana’s fate has long been confirmed and they only have pride to play for in this match. Atalanta are on the hunt for a top four place and we predict they will win this game.

Atalanta have been conceding goals on the road in Serie and this match could finish with over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring.
