Montpellier and Nantes kick off Ligue 1 this weekend on Friday night with the two sat in the bottom half of the table, and Forebet has grouped together the latest data and analysis, for this weekend’s football predictions.

Montpellier are slightly better off than Nantes heading into this game with the home side sitting in 12th.

This means they have five more points on the board but both teams have still only won nine games so far.

Montpellier have, however, lost six fewer games at the same time, and they are coming into this match with 38 goals scored, which is also 10 more than Nantes' tally.

Montpellier are on a great run of form right now too, which has rocketed them far away from the relegation zone with a gap of eight points on Le Havre in 16th.

The club have only lost once since the start of March after a 6-2 beating from Paris Saint-Germain in a game that saw Amaud Nordin score before a Teji Tedy Savanier penalty in the first half too.

Before this, Montpellier defeated Nice on the road in an impressive 2-1 victory where Savanier got another penalty after an early own goal got them rolling.

They've also managed to beat Le Havre within the past few weeks after Jordan Ferri and Christopher Jullien scored a goal each in the second half of a 2-0 win.

Savanier was back amongst the goals with another penalty before Yann Karamoh scored in the 90th minute.

Clermont Foot managed to get a point off them shortly after with Tanguy Coulibaly scoring in the second half to equalise for Montpellier.

Another return to the win column came shortly after with Modibo Sagnan scoring alongside a finish from Musa Al-Taamari in a 2-1 win over Reims.

As for Nantes, they are on 31 points and down in 14th with a gap of only three points on the bottom three.

Worse yet, with just 28 goals scored, no side from outside of the bottom three have scored fewer than them after they fired a blank once more in a 3-0 loss to Rennes at home last weekend.

The club did manage to beat Le Havre before this with a finish from Kader Bamba in stoppage time. It was, however, just the ninth win of the Ligue 1 season for Nantes.

Forebet now predicts a win for Montpellier and under 2.5 goals.
