Friday Night Football

The weekend’s Premier League action kicked off in controversial fashion at Bramall Lane. Oli McBurnie put Sheff Utd ahead on 53 minutes, before Robert Snodgrass thought he’d rescued a point for the Hammers deep into added time. However, VAR spotted a Declan Rice handball in the buildup, so the Blades eventually came away with all three points.

Saturday’s Round-Up

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished off a slick move to give Arsenal an early lead at Selhurst Park. Jordan Ayew then equalised for Palace in the second half, while Aubameyang was sent off for a poor tackle on Max Meyer.

Everton continue to climb up the table under Carlo Ancelotti following a slender victory over Brighton. Richarlison’s clever effort late in the first half proved to be the only goal of the game.

Southampton came from behind to beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Dennis Praet put the Foxes ahead on 14 minutes, only for Stuart Armstrong to level five minutes later. Danny Ings scored yet again to claim the win for Saints ten minutes from time.

Marcus Rashford netted a brace as Man Utd thrashed Norwich 4-0. Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood also got on the scoresheet, leaving the Canaries rooted to the bottom of the table.

Goals from Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi saw Chelsea cruise past Burnley at Stamford Bridge. The Blues completely dominated the game, seeing 66% of the possession and registering 18 shots to Burnley’s seven.

Wolves were held to a draw by Newcastle as two goals in the first 15 minutes decided the game. Miguel Almiron put Steve Bruce’s side ahead, but Leander Dendoncker ensured the points were shared.

In the Premier League’s late kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Liverpool made it 20 wins from 21 games this season to extend their lead at the top. Roberto Firmino’s first-half strike was enough to seal the points for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Super Sunday

Watford move out of the relegation zone after a convincing 3-0 win over Bournemouth. Goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure, Troy Deeney and Roberto Pereyra mean the Cherries slip into the bottom three.

A Sergio Aguero hat-trick helped Man City hammer Aston Villa 6-1. Riyad Mahrez scored twice, while Gabriel Jesus also got in on the act. Anwar El Ghazi scored a penalty in added time.
