Cristiano Ronaldo: First to 50 goals in Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League

When Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus for €100 million in July 2018, many believed that it was the beginning of the end for the aging megastar.
After all, the Portuguese had just turned 33, and leaving a club of Real Madrid’s stature suggested that he was past his best.
But Ronaldo has since proved that he is far from finished. In fact, he recently become the first player ever to reach the 50-goal milestone in Serie A, La Liga and the English Premier League.
Now 35, Ronaldo reached a half-century of Serie A goals by netting a double against title-rivals Lazio earlier in the week, putting Juventus on the verge of clinching a ninth consecutive top-flight crown.
The recent brace means he has now scored 30 goals in 30 league appearances this term, bringing him level with Ciro Immobile at the top of the Serie A goalscoring charts.
Ronaldo won three straight Premier League titles with Manchester United between 2006/07 and 2008/09, racking up 84 goals in 196 league appearances for the English club.
He then went on to guide Real Madrid to two La Liga titles in 2011/12 and 2016/17, scoring an astonishing 311 goals in 292 league appearances for Los Blancos.
It was difficult to imagine Ronaldo continuing to score at such an alarming rate in the twilight of his career, but the veteran isn’t showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
The former Sporting man – who is also one goal shy of nothing up a century of international goals – has netted 51 goals in just 61 Serie A appearances since his move to Turin.
At 35, most players are either retiring or jetting off to China for one last bumper pay packet. But it feels like Ronaldo could still play at the very highest level for many more years.
His desire and appetite for the game is second to none, and that is what has kept him at the top for the best part of two decades.
Nobody knows where Ronaldo will go next. A stint in the MLS, perhaps? Or maybe a long-awaited return to Man Utd is on the cards?
