Since the restart of the Premier League campaign, some teams have continued their pre-COVID-19 form, while some teams form has dipped and some improved.

One team who have not enjoyed a great return to league action are Leicester. The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat at improving Everton on Wednesday night. Despite the defeat, Brendan Rodgers’ team are still in third place in the Premier League table.

However, the loss on Merseyside means that Leicester have won just one of their last eight matches in the English top-flight, including failing to win since the return of action last month.

A place in the Champions League for next season already looked inevitable after a superb early run of form in the Premier League had put the Foxes in a seemingly unassailable position.

However, that position is no longer so assured. Fourth-place Chelsea are now just a point behind the Foxes, while fifth and sixth place Manchester United and Wolves now trail Rodgers team by just three points.

The fact that the Foxes still must play the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United means that the last six games of the season could be very interesting when it comes to the fight for the remaining Champions League spots.

What may make it even more difficult for Leicester to seal a top-five spot is the fact that two of the teams below them, Wolves and Manchester United have returned to action in such good form.

The Foxes are still in a good position to make it into Europe’s elite competition for next season. However, to achieve their goal the Foxes need a turnaround in form. If they don’t improve in the near future, then the teams from the Midlands could easily find themselves out of the top-five in the Premier League before the end of the campaign.
