On Monday night, Leicester suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at reigning champions Manchester City.

The victory was vital for the Citizens, as the three points took them back to the top of the Premier League table with just one game remaining.

Despite the defeat, the Foxes came out of the game with great credit. The performance was one of great maturity. If not for a fantastic long-range effort from City captain Vincent Kompany, Brendan Rodgers team would have emerged from their trip to the Etihad Stadium with a creditable draw.

However, it has not just been the Foxes display in Manchester that has been encouraging of late for Brendan Rodgers side. The team from the Midlands have the core of a talented young team courtesy of some excellent work by the clubs scouting team.

The likes of Harry Maguire, Ricardo Pereira, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and youth product Ben Chilwell are all highly-rated players, either in their prime or near their prime. Unfortunately for the Foxes, their star players performances have attracted interest from elsewhere.

Young Belgian international Tielemans has particularly impressed since a loan switch from Monaco in January. The 21-year-old is reportedly the subject of interest from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

England internationals Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell have also been consistently linked with moves to United and City respectively. Meanwhile, Maddison has been mooted as a potential summer transfer target for Arsenal.

Leicester City have been a club renowned for their recruitment and canny knack of talent spotting. The Foxes struggle to keep hold of their star players, as do most teams do if they are now at the top of the football tree.

The current Leicester team is full of promise and Rodgers has good foundations to build a team that may be able to trouble the top-six next season. However, to do so the team from the Midland’s need to nail down their star players.
