5 Young Players to Watch at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
2562

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup less than six months away, it’s time to look at some of the planet’s brightest young stars who are destined to light up the tournament in Qatar.

Of course, the World Cup invariably produces unexpected heroes every four years. But the following players look set to enjoy plenty of success this winter.

• Julian Alvarez – Argentina

With Erling Haaland set to join Manchester City next month, it is easy to forget that Julian Alvarez is also on his way to the Etihad Stadium.

The 22-year-old Argentine recently scored a double hat-trick in River Plate’s 8-1 Copa Libertadores thrashing of Alianza Lima. The prospect of him linking up with Haaland at Man City is frightening!

• Ansu Fati – Spain

Unfortunately, Ansu Fati missed the majority of the 2021-22 season due to injury. But the 19-year-old Spaniard is back and ready to make his mark on the World Cup later this year.

The winger has already racked up more than half a century of appearances for Barcelona, breaking countless records along the way. Keep reading to learn about another Spanish prodigy.

• Jude Bellingham – England

When Jude Bellingham signed for Borussia Dortmund when he was just 17 years old, it was clear that he was going to become a special talent.

The Birmingham-born teenager is closing in on 100 appearances for Dortmund and has also featured 12 times for his country. A future England captain in the making, perhaps?

• Jamal Musiala – Germany

At the age of just 19, Jamal Musiala made 40 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions last season – chipping in with eight goals and six assists.

Despite representing England at various youth levels, Musiala committed his future to Germany and has since made 11 international appearances. The dynamic midfielder is only going to get better.

• Gavi – Spain

Believe it or not, Gavi will only turn 18 a few months before the World Cup begins. Still, the gifted supremely midfielder has already notched 46 appearances for Barca – along with eight Spain caps.

Last year, Gavi made his senior international debut just one month after making his Spain U18 debut. He looks set to shine on the biggest stage in world football when Qatar 2022 gets underway.
