Early Transfer Window Deals That Caught the Eye

The major European league season has only just ended but clubs are already looking ahead to next season. Teams have the opportunity to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, which is going to be different for everyone involved due to the World Cup being played in November and December.

We have already seen some interesting transfers and you can find out more about the deals that have been done below.

Without doubt the biggest transfer to date this summer is the arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian striker was always going to leave Dortmund this summer, with Barcelona and Real Madrid tipped as possible destinations. However, Manchester City moved in and got the deal done swiftly, which is great news for the Premier League champions.

Dortmund did not waste any time in finding a replacement and they have signed Karim Adeyemi from Red Bull Salzburg.

The 20-year-old striker was one of the most sought-after young players in Europe following his goal scoring exploits for the Austrian club and Dortmund will be hoping he can continue his form in-front of goal.

Aston Villa have been busy in the transfer market and they have already added Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos to their squad for next season.

Kamara was a free signing from Marseille and is expected to add some quality in central midfield while Carlos is an experienced central defender.

The Brazilian has won the Europa League with Sevilla and the Olympic Games with Brazil, so will add plenty of experience to the defence at Villa Park.

Philippe Coutinho has joined on a permanent deal following his loan from Barcelona last season and Steven Gerrard has wasted no time getting his deals done.

Another arrival in the Premier League is Ivan Perisic, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur from Inter Milan. The Croatian winger is more than capable of playing as a wing-back and is happy to work up and down the pitch, exactly what Antonio Conte likes from his wide players.

He may be 33 years old but Perisic is extremely fit and will be a good addition to the Spurs squad as they compete in both the Premier League and the Champions League next season.

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the permanent transfer of full-back Nuno Mendes from Sporting Club in Portugal. The Portuguese full back featured regularly for PSG while on loan from Sporting Club last season, so it was little surprise to see Mendes join the French champions on a permanent deal.

Having survived in the Premier League, Leeds United have strengthened their squad with the addition of Brenden Aaronson. The attacking midfielder joins from Red Bull Salzburg for around €30 million having impressed for the Austrian club in European competition last season.

Finally, we come to Nico Schlotterbeck who has joined Borussia Dortmund from SC Freiburg for €25 million. The central defender played on loan at Union Berlin in the Bundesliga last season and his performances were enough to persuade Dortmund to splash the cash on the German international.
